Not your average next door girl. Oosaki Nana is
one of the protagonist of Nana. She is
punk-j-rock queen. The lead vocals of Blast. She
can play guitar and drums, though she insist it
was just some random playing. She was a drop out
from high school, unlike Nobuo. Heavy chain smoker.
Her childhood is a relatively sad one. Her mother
abandoned her at her grandmother's place. Apparently
her mother sleeps around, thus she does not even
know who is her biological father. Since the tender
age of four, she's been living with her grandmother
whom she insist she was abused into child labour.
*lol* Her grandmother died when Nana was 15, probably
could not handle the shock that Nana had to drop
out of school. So, with no school, she does odd
jobs to survive till now. And of cos, sing in
Blast. Her grandmother always told her not to
dress up or wear anything red as that's what her
mother wore to seduce men. So when her grandmother
died, she immediately went to buy a nice red dress
and her grandmother was right. She managed to
catch Ren's eyes. ^^;; |

Komatsu Nana

This is your typical average next door girl. Komatsu
Nana is the other protangonist of Nana.
She is whiney lady who prefers to dream of unrealistic
wants. Not really unrealistic, but unrealistic
because she doesn't work for it. She is always
dreaming and thinking of her Prince Charming and
often get infatuated with good looking men. She
comes from an average family with three sisters,
she being the second daughter of the Komatsu family.
Never been good in her studies with no initiative
of her own, unless being scolded. She has no aims
and follows her best friend Junko in the past,
for example going to Arts School, till Junko 'left'
her into Nana's (Oosaki) care where she learnt
to be more independent. (thank god) Used to be
attached to Shoji, till Shoji decided to leave
her Sachiko. Used to be a mistress of a married
man, later having a one-night-stand with Trapnest's
Takumi. She's a big Trapnest (to be precise, Takumi)
fan. Though she seemed like a flirtaous girl,
her mindset is actually very innocent and naive.
All she wants is just a man whom she can feel
secure with. "Hachi" is the nick name Nana gave
her. |

Saotome Junko

Junko is a hard-rock grrl. ^^ She is tough, mean,
independent and mean. Surprisingly, best friends
with someone whose character is rather opposite
of her. She is rather good in her studies and
have a very steady relationship with Kyosuke,
though they only knew each other for a few weeks
before attacking each other, beneath the clothings
*grins*. She cares alot for her friends, especially
Nana. She and Nana (Komatsu) grew up together
since high school and when they moved to Tokyo,
she still looks after her like a mother hen. She
runs the extra notes at the back of the manga.

Takakura Kyosuke

Kyosuke and Shoji are best friends. Kyosuke and
Junko are an item. They knew each other from Art
School since Shoji used to be Junko's classmate.
Though he hardly talks in the manga, Kyosuke is
a caring friend, to both Nana (Komatsu) and Shoji.
He is very patient with them, especially to Nana,
when Junko is always on the verge of screaming
at her best pal. He gives advice to Shoji, especially
during the time when Shoji had another girl behind
Nana's back. He dresses very cool. ^^ |

Endo Shoji

Shoji used to be with Nana (Komatsu). He used
to be crazy for her during school time and even
decide to bring her over to Tokyo when he got
offered a place in one of the Art Colleges in
Tokyo. A devoted and committed fellow. It was
because of Nana's inablity to understand how
Shoji thinks and feels and lack of "connection"
that allowed a third party to come between them.
Shoji, being a SNAG (sensitive new age guy),
felt very guilty over his betrayal to Nana and
unfairness to Sachiko and decided to make a
choice between the two girls. He chose Sachiko
in the end. However, it was not a fling. It
was a serious relationship and they are making
plans to move in together.

Kawamura Sachiko

Sachiko is a sweet and innocent-looking girl.
She fell in love with Shoji the first time she
met him. Of course feelings developed over time.
Not long, they looked almost like a couple, though
they were not. Many people mistook them being
together. She studies in the same college as Shoji,
Kyosuke and Junko. Though she knew Shoji had a
girlfriend, she could not stop loving him. But
she knew her place and told Shoji not to bother
about her liking him. Shoji took a liking to her
and since his relationship between Nana and him
went to the rocks, he allowed her to come between
them. But she was very cautious in not breaking
them up. She even wanted to break up with Shoji
out of guilt. However Shoji chose her in the end,
facing a very angry Nana (Oosaki). |

Honjo Ren

The first generation of Blast. Honjo Ren used
to be a bass player for Blast till he shifted
to Tokyo to join Trapnest, playing guitar. He
is talented in music and music (and Nana) is his
life. A typical cool punk fellow who is one of
the most popular member of Trapnest. He and Nana
were together for a very long time till he had
to leave. He wanted Nana to come along but she
refused as she wanted to go Tokyo and sing, not
to go Tokyo and be in Ren's shadow. He accepted
her choice and for one year, they lived seperately.
However, during Trapnest Trigger Live Concert,
they met up and patched things up. He is an orphen
since young and Nana is the first person he treats
as family. |

Takagi Yasushi

Weight : 72kg
Yasushi or Yasu (for short) is one of the founding
members of Blast (along with Ren, Nana and Nobu).
He plays the drums and still continues to play
them for the new generation Blast. Despite his
fierce looks, (everyone was scared of him) he
is very gentle and caring. Mature and looks after
Nana (Oosaki) like an elder brother (could be
something more though). He is a lawyer with a
bright future. He used to think that Blast was
just a hobby, never meant to make it big in the
music industry. However his mind did change when
Nana came over to Tokyo and with Nobuo going over
to Tokyo to join Nana. He soon joined the 2 surviving
Blast members and continue his position as a drummer.
His favourite brand of cigarettes became the band's
name - Black Stones. |

Terashima Nobuo

Miu or Yuri

Nobuo is the third founding member of Blast. He
plays guitar as he can't play bass (that's why
Ren took that position). Currently he is trying
to compose his own music, which he did relatively
successful in tankoubon two. He is your simple
next door guy who loves the attention girls give
to him in school. He graduated from high school
and no longer continue his studies. His family
owns some small business at home, however he gave
them up to join Nana in Tokyo. He loves Blast
and is determined to make Blast big in Tokyo in
the future.
He soon became the 4th official
boyfriend of Komatsu Nana. In fact it was hinted
loads of time in the serious that he is interested
in her. But it was only in tankoubon 6 that he
finally admitted that he was in love with Nana. |

Okazaki Shinichi

Shinichi is your unbelievable 15 year old punk
kid. He comes from a problem family, whose parents
can't be bothered with him. In fact, he doesn't
go home at all. He sleeps around every night for
a certain fee. This way he earns both bed and
money. When he first appeared he looked rather
decent. However as the tankoubon progresses, we
see him with more piercing and more punkish clothes.
His idol is Ren and he is the second generation
bass player in Blast. Nana accepted him into the
band because he promised her to surpass Ren. He
is an expert in mahjong. ^^ He is a heavy smoker
kid too. He is in love with Reira and is taking
caution in their relationship now, especially
after Takumi's warning. |

Uehara Misato

Misato is a great fan of Blast (or rather Nana)
ever since they started. She attends to all their
performance in hometown. She's been following
the band ever since they first performed. She
is a rich girl who tend to spend on Nana quite
a bit. ^^ She even knew Nana's favourite brand
was Viven. ^^;; She and Nana became friends not
long and even came to watch their first performance
in Lifehouse Tokyo when Nana told her about it.
She is a very delicate looking girl with huge
golden curls. Not your expected J-rock fan. ^^ |

Serizawa (Layla) Reira

Reira is the lead vocalist of Trapnest. A very
beautiful lady with an aura of sophisticateness.
Looks rather untouchable by her appearance. However
behind the curtains she is just like any childish
kid. ^^;; A very unexpected thing of her since
she looks so different from the way she acts.
She used to be with Yasu (used to be attached
i mean) during high school. They had a one year
and a half relationship till they broke off due
to their differences in priorities. After taking
up the offer made by Shin-chan, Reira seemed to
very distracted by this little punk. In fact,
currently they are under a PLUS POINT : Reira's
original name is Layla. She is a mixed (caucasian
and Japanese). Her mom stays in Japan. She didn't
want anyone to know she is a mixed child, thus
used the name Reira. She felt that if people knew,
they would say it was due to the fact her father
was not Japanese, hence having such wonderful
vocals. |

Ichinose Takumi

The Bass player of Trapnest and your typical
flirtous celebrity. His trademark is his long
flowing black hair. Unlike Reira, he is very
much like what he portrays. He and Yasu used
to be schoolmates and are still friends. It
was him that asked Yasu to persuade Ren to join
Trapnest. It was also him that made the first
move to hit on Komatsu Nana. Although he promised
that he will look for Nana after their concerts,
he never returned any of her calls.
He only started looking for her when he found
out that Nobuo was interested in his thing,
his toy. He then frequently looked
for her and Nana being the silly lovelorn girl,
depended on Takumi for emotional support and
so-called love.
However, when he found out that Nana was pregnant,
he was a totally changed man. The bastard side
of him disappeared and instead, a gentle kind
fellow was sitting in his place. Perhaps, he
did develop a liking to Nana's innocence. And
perhaps, deep inside, there is a desire for
a happy family for himself.

Fujieda Naoki

The drummer of Trapnest. Nothing is said much
about him as he hardly made much appearance. Alike
Reira, his appearance is rather different from
his character. He is very much child-like and
naive. A rather noisy fellow, looking at Takumi's
attitude to him. Kind of reminds me of Komatsu
Nana. He is forced to keep his hair blonde as
it became his trademark. |

Miu
Current Love : Nobu? Yasu?
An actress who is living in the same dorm as
Blast. She suffers from the same nervous-illness
as Nana. She is cool and composed and hides
a deep secret within her. She see things very
well and knows that Yasu is the one who looks
after the members of Blast.
Until now, I can only suspect that she is interested
in Nobu, yet disappointed in the way Nobu reacts
to situations. Yasu seems to be interested in
her and Nobu, seems to be curious about her.
I hope Yazawa-sensei would develop her character
deeper.

Yuri
Current Love : Nobu
An AV actress living in the same dorm as the members
from Blast. Somehow she seems to be very famous
in the media industry, or rather among the males
in the media industry. She is an airhead whose
main target is Nobu from Blast. In fact she only
notices Nobu, whenever the whole Blast appears.
Her role now is being the thorn between Nobu and
Miu and Nobu and Hachi. Plus point, she is interested
in Naoki from Trapnest. *lol* |
